Why Should You Buy Travel Insurance
Whenever you travel out of your home station, whether domestic or international, there are uncertainties of events beyond your control. Whether you travel by Train, Bus or Flight, some events occur for example- it may be Force Majeure, cancellation/delay of mode of transport like Bus, Train, or Flights etc. which puts you and your Family at risk and discomfort. Such events can be summarized as Cancellation, Delays, Accidents, Loss of Baggage, Medical Emergency. Therefore, to compensate yourself for such events, You must Buy Travel Insurance. Travel Insurance should not be confused with Health or Term Insurance (Life).
How Much Travel Insurance is Needed
Generally, travel insurance is for the duration of the travel period. Say example- if you are Travelling for ten days, then the travel insurance should start from 1st day to midnight of 10th day. Valuation of the Travel Insurance is best left to the SME (Subject Matter Experts) of Actuary Sciences but, most of the Credit Card/Debit Card Company set a standard amount which would be adequate and nominal. Similarly, there are established Travel Insurance Players which offer travel Insurance based on certain criterion like gender, age, destination etc. The foregoing is not exhaustive criterion.
Recommendation
a) Post Pandemic and lessons learnt- self-hygiene, a mini bottle of hand sanitizer, adequate quantity of tissues, and anything else you deem fit, should be part of your Travel Kit.
b) After an exhaustive day of sightseeing, you must spend at least 10-15 min in sauna (most hotels provide) otherwise, a portable steam inhaler. Steam is extremely effective in killing viruses and rejuvenates your lungs by increasing lung capacity.
c) Travel Insurance- Take worldwide and zero deductibles (you will have to visit a Travel Insurance website to understand and get more information regarding this). Otherwise, point-to-point is also accepted by most countries and airlines. Notwithstanding, every Traveler must make it self-mandatory to insure himself/herself and their family(if) before embarking on any journey.
d) Medical documents and prescriptions should be carried in original along with necessary medications. Any PED (Pre-existing disease) should be promptly declared in the Traveler’s forms wherever possible.
